ModuleCo, in partnership with Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust, is delighted to announce that work has commenced on the new North Kent Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at Livingstone Community Hospital in Dartford. This state-of-the-art modular facility will enhance diagnostic services in the region, significantly expanding the Trust’s capacity to deliver life-saving tests and screenings.
A groundbreaking ceremony was recently held on-site to mark this important milestone, attended by representatives from ModuleCo and the Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust. The event celebrated the progress made so far, with site clearance now complete and the modular building’s construction well underway at ModuleCo’s specialist manufacturing facility in Mitcheldean, Gloucestershire.
Scheduled for handover in June 2025, the permanent CDC will replace a temporary facility installed in November 2023, providing a long-term solution to the growing demand for diagnostic services. Designed as a 1,160m² standalone building, the CDC will house advanced imaging equipment, including MRI and CT scanners, as well as multiple diagnostic assessment rooms for respiratory testing, phlebotomy, ECG, echocardiography, and ultrasound. The facility will operate seven days a week, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, enabling the Trust to perform an estimated 130,000 additional tests annually.
Speaking at the groundbreaking event, Jonathan Brindley, Sales and Marketing Director at ModuleCo, said:
“We are thrilled to see this project take shape and are proud to partner with Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust to deliver a truly cutting-edge facility. Off-site modular construction is the future of healthcare infrastructure, enabling us to deliver complex projects more efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of quality. The North Kent CDC will be a game-changer for the region, providing patients with faster access to vital diagnostic tests.”
Andy Godden, Managing Director of ModuleCo, shares his thoughts:
“This is an exciting milestone not only for ModuleCo but also for the patients and clinicians who will benefit from this incredible facility. The advanced modular construction process means that the CDC will arrive on-site already 90% complete, ensuring minimal disruption to the hospital and local community. We are proud to contribute to such a transformational project that will support the NHS in delivering first-class diagnostic services for years to come.”
The North Kent CDC is a turnkey project, with ModuleCo managing all aspects, from design, off-site construction and foundation works to the installation of cutting-edge diagnostic equipment. Once operational, it will play a crucial role in reducing wait times and enhancing patient outcomes across North Kent.
