FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ModuleCo is thrilled to announce the successful delivery of a state-of-the-art maternity operating theatre suite at Leighton Hospital, in partnership with Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This new facility marks a significant milestone in the Trust’s mission to enhance and modernise maternity services. The existing maternity theatres, which had become outdated, required extensive refurbishment to maintain effective operations. With the new modular theatre now operational, the Trust can carry out necessary refurbishments without disrupting year-round maternity services, a solution that was not previously feasible.
In addition to serving as a decant facility during refurbishments, the new theatre addresses the increasing demands of the local population, ensuring that Leighton Hospital can continue to provide high-quality care.
Leighton Hospital, located in Crewe, Cheshire, is a key healthcare provider for the region. Managed by Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the hospital offers a comprehensive range of services including emergency care, surgery, maternity services, and specialised treatments. Established in the 1970s, Leighton Hospital has continuously evolved to meet the healthcare needs of the community, with a strong focus on modernisation and quality patient care.
The modular operating suite includes a 63m² operating room with an integrated three-person scrub area, an anaesthetic room, a lay-up prep room, and a dirty utility room. It consists of three 12m x 4m modules connected to the existing hospital by a traditionally built link and is supported by a rooftop plant room housing the air handling unit. Designed by ModuleCo’s in-house healthcare team and manufactured to 90% completion at their specialist facility in Gloucestershire, the project was expertly managed on-site by ModuleCo’s project delivery team.

We have also expanded services by adding staff to support our maternity theatres and improving our maternity triage and waiting rooms.”
Jonathan Brindley, Sales and Marketing Director at ModuleCo, added: “We are delighted to have partnered with Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to deliver this cutting-edge modular operating theatre suite. The Trust has invested in a premium surgical facility built to the highest standards in a controlled manufacturing environment and equipped with the latest clinical technology. This will provide an excellent working and care environment for their staff and, most importantly, for the patients they serve.”
